Booster Vaccine Recommended
To help protect teens from meningitis during college years, a second MCV4 (Menactra) vaccine is now recommended 5 years after the initial vaccine - which is usually given at 11 years age now. Ask about this at your checkup for 16-18 year-olds.

Flu Shots 2010-2011
We have placed our first order for flu vaccine and it should arrive in the next week or two. Please see this chart to help determine how many vaccines your child needs this year. Here are the new Vaccine Information Sheets for the injectable and intranasal flu vaccines for this year.

Goodbye Flu
The respiratory virus season is winding down. It was a unusual year with our flu peak in October-Novemeber (all H1N1 Flu) and no March peak - the usual time for seasonal flu. We monitor the viral detections reported by the UW/Children's virology lab to know what might be affecting our patients. Right now there are some adenovirus (sore throats) and rhinovirus (colds) detections, but we have not seen any flu for over a month. Hopefully this means the kids will be well for the summer.
