Dr. Alissa Darden appointed as UW Pediatric Residency Program Director

The Department of Pediatrics is thrilled to announce that Dr. Alissa Darden has been offered and accepted the UW Pediatric Residency Program Director role beginning in June 2024.
 
Dr. Darden will be a faculty member in the Division of Hospital Medicine.
 
Dr. Darden has a longstanding history of leadership, previously serving as Vice Chair of Pediatrics at Banner Children's at Desert in Mesa, AZ. She joined Phoenix Children's Hospital in 2018 and has been an Associate Program Director in the Phoenix Children's Pediatric Residency Program Alliance since 2020. In her role, Dr. Darden led many of their efforts in educational scholarship and resident wellbeing.

Furthermore, Dr. Darden was the Chair for Diversity and Inclusion for Graduate Medical Education and founded many of her institution's diversity and inclusion initiatives. Nationally, she has been an active member of the Academic Pediatric Association and the Association of Pediatric Program Directors.
 
She brings many years of educational and leadership experience to this position. Medical residents and faculty are eager to benefit from her expertise in building community, improving medical education, and promoting diversity and inclusion.
