Abena Boateng Knight, MD

Professional Bio

Dr. Knight completed her undergraduate degree at Stanford University. She attended Baylor College of Medicine and completed her internship and residency at the University of Washington/Seattle Children’s Hospital.

Dr. Knight’s is interested in the intersection medical education and diversity, equity, and inclusion, with a focus on pediatric education across the spectrum of training, improving providers’ abilities to employ cultural humility to manage diverse populations, and supporting learners from diverse backgrounds. She has held several leadership positions in medical education within the Department of Pediatrics. She previously served as the Course Director for the inpatient ward subinternship from 2014 to 2019, the Associate Clerkship Director for the pediatric inpatient core from 2019 to 2024, and the Associate Vice Chair of Education from 2021 to 2024. She is the current Vice Chair of Education for the Department of Pediatrics. She has also held several leadership positions within the Division of Hospital Medicine and has been the Associate Division Head since 2022. Nationally, she has been an active member of the Council on Medical Student Education in Pediatrics, for which she is the outgoing Treasurer and an inaugural Co-chair of the Diversity Resource and Advisory Committee, and the Association of Pediatric Program Directors, for which she has collaborated on many initiatives to increase the diversity of learners.
