Professional Bio

Clinical Interests: Care of critically ill neonates, management of extremely premature infants, ECMO, early and non-invasive respiratory support

Scholarly Focus: Dr. Brajkovic has a background in public health and disparities research and in interested in health services research and initiating equity-based QI initiatives at Seattle Children’s Hospital.  Her other scholarly interests include ECMO and quality improvement of airway and respiratory management of the neonates. She is involved in the Children’s Hospital Neonatal Collaborative (CHNC) Extremely Premature Infant focus group. She is also actively involved in the National Emergency Airway Registry for Neonates (NEAR4NEOs), for which she serves as the Co-PI at the University of Washington for the OPTION SAFE (OPtimizing Tracheal Intubation in Neonates Safety) multi-site quality improvement trial.

Administration/Education Roles: Dr. Brajkovic is a co-leader of the Equity Working Group at Seattle Children’s Hospital. She is a member of the Seattle Children’s Extracorporeal Life Support Team (ECMO) team as well as serving as a member of the Faculty Recruitment Committee. She is currently leading the adoption of catheter-based surfactant administration at the University of Washington and at Valley Medical Center NICUs. Her educational roles include teaching trainees (including residents, fellows, and advanced practice providers in training) through both didactic lectures as well as clinically at the bedside.
