Dr. Nassr Nama earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and a Master’s in Immunology and Microbiology from the University of Montreal. He completed his medical training at the University of Ottawa and his pediatric residency at the University of British Columbia (Vancouver, BC). Dr. Nama worked at BC Children’s Hospital as a hospitalist and complex care pediatrician before relocating to Seattle.

Dr. Nama's research interests are focused on improving care for hospitalized children. Specifically, he aims to develop risk stratification tools that enable physicians to allocate clinical resources effectively to high-risk patients. He has led multicenter collaborations in Canada and the US, with research centered on improving the management of infants with Brief Resolved Unexplained Events (BRUE). He has successfully developed and validated clinical prediction rules to improve risk estimation in these infants. For his contributions to this field, Dr. Nama was awarded a Seeds Grant by the BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute – Evidence to Innovation, and a Career Development Award by the Seattle Children’s Research Institute.

Additionally, Dr. Nama is interested in expediting evidence synthesis and shortening the implementation of research findings in clinical practice by leveraging novel technologies such as crowdsourcing and machine learning. This approach has enabled him to identify current knowledge gaps, guiding future research questions.
