UW Pediatrics is dedicated to the success of all members in the Department, including our early career faculty. The PEDS Program is a Department program designed to provide career development and peer support to early career faculty who recently joined our community.
Program Goals
- Ensure early career faculty understand the importance of mentorship and how they can best use the different types of mentorship support available to them in the Department of Pediatrics.
- Provide guidance around career advancement and promotion in the Department of Pediatrics.
- Support the development of professional networks and foster a sense of community.

- When will the PEDS Program be offered this academic year?

The new Department of Pediatrics Early Career Development Support (PEDS) Program begins in January!
- Who is expected to participate?

All pediatric faculty who are either Acting Assistant Professors or in the first 3 years of being in the Assistant Professor rank.
- What will my participation involve?

All PEDS Program participants will:
- Attend 5 in-person 90-minute career development workshops plus 1 wrap-up session from January-June 2025 (one workshop per month)
- Participate in 5 virtual 60-minute peer discussion groups (one peer discussion group per month)

We recognize that participation in the PEDS Program will require an investment of your time and we promise to do our best to make your participation worth it! Our program was developed with input from current Assistant Professors and Associate Professors from across the Department to address some of the career development and peer support needs of early career faculty. We have outstanding faculty experts from across our Department and UW School of Medicine lined up to deliver relevant content with time built in for your active engagement so that you can get concrete outcomes from participation.
