Michael Leu, MD, MS, MHS, FAAP, FAMIA

Professional Bio

Dr. Leu completed his degrees in computer science and in medicine at the University of Washington.  He completed his residency training in Pediatrics at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, and was a Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholar at Yale University.

Dr. Leu has been interested in how health information technology can be used to ensure that everyone receives the best care regardless of where they seek care.  Initial research involved studies both surveying whether pediatricians were using pediatric-supportive electronic health records features, and how to make these features more modular so that they can be incorporated into commercial electronic health record systems.  He created frameworks to help understand how medical practices adopt health information technology and for value-based clinical decisionmaking; and created decision support for a number of evidence-based clinical practice standards.  He enjoys mentoring medical students, graduate students, residents, fellows, and junior faculty.  In his free time, he enjoys Seattleā€™s numerous outdoor recreational activities with his family.
