Professional Bio

Clinical Interests: Providing equitable and empathic care for critically ill, high‐risk newborns as part of a multi‐disciplinary team. Special interest lies in caring for neonates requiring ECMO.

Scholarly Focus: Dr. Billimoria’s interest lies in health services research related to the care of neonates in quaternary level referral NICUs using hospital, state and national‐level data. Her current focus lies in the study of clinical practice variation and related outcomes of neonatal patients needing ECMO utilizing the Children’s Hospital Neonatal Collaborative (CHNC) Database, Nationwide Inpatient Sample (NIS) and local hospital data. She collaborates with national leaders in the CHNC neonatal ECMO focus group to study national neonatal ECMO trends and outcomes.

Her other interests lie in local and regional quality improvement work using hospital level and state level data, Comprehensive Hospital Abstract Reporting System (CHARS).

Administration/Education Roles: Dr. Billimoria is the Associate Medical Director of Seattle Children’s Hospital NICU and Neonatal Transport Program. She participates in simulation education of all neonatal providers. She runs the monthly neonatal ECMO simulation and participates in simulation‐based education of the critical care transport team.
